Ted became licensed as a CPA in 1966. He worked as an accountant for the private sector and an auditor for the State of Texas before joining Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) in 1966 as the Director of Accounting. He became Comptroller in 1977 and Vice-President of Finance and Management in 1981. He retired in 1993. Ted married Neldina Holubec on May 29, 1948 enjoying sixty years of marriage. This union was blessed with a son, daughter and two grandchildren. Ted and Nel were married in Austin and lived there for 18 years until moving to San Marcos in 1966 where he lived until his death. Ted loved to travel and kept a world map marking all the places he had visited. Besides traveling, he spent much of his time tending his beautiful orchids and other exotic plants. He found much joy in gardening and showing off his plants. Another life-long hobby of his was photography. His life with his wife, children and grandchildren is well-documented through pictures and videos. Ted is survived by his wife, Neldina; son, Larry Marek and wife Becky; daughter, Janette Hall and husband John; grandson, Johnny Hall; granddaughter, Jennifer Kruppa and husband Elliott. Ted was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed greatly but we take solace knowing that he is in heaven with his Lord and Savior and happy to be reunited with his loved ones.
