Old Business
Stribrnanka Band Concert
The following motion was made at the October meeting:
"A contingent motion was made by Vice-President Bernard Tupa for the event to be held at Onion Creek Country Club for $20.00 per person starting at 7:00p.m. to 9:30 or 10:00p.m. on Wednesday Feb. 29, 2012. Seconded by Roger Rabago. Motion passed."
The contingency of the motion was based upon the availability of February 29, 2012 for the event to be held at Onion Creek Country Club. Pavla VanBibber reported that she has a firm commitment from OCCC to reserve that date for our event at a cost of $17 per person with 200 seats available. That allows $3 per person as a fund raiser for ACHA.
The band does not want to be paid for their performance. They only ask that they be served a meal before the concert and beer during the meal and performance. Pavla VanBibber said she will take care of the meal.
After much discussion recommendations, time lines and motions as described herein were developed:
Bernard Tupa volunteered to design a flyer:
To be displayed on ACHA's web site.
To be distributed at the KJT-KJZT party Dec 3.
Sent to newspapers and other publications.
Placed at various public locations.
Happy Almaguer and Kay Bouska volunteered to assist with the flyer.
Guidelines for additional information to be included on the flyer were suggested:
Style of seating
Limited seating available
Cash Bar.
Tear off at bottom of flyer for ticket sales at $20 each.
Names of all ticket holders must be included with ticket orders.
James VanBibber volunteered to collect the money for ticket sales. This also includes receiving "intents to buy at the door" from those who plan to do so. James' address and e-mail will be included on the flyer.
Pavla VanBibber needs to give OCCC a count of the number of tickets sold (and expected to be sold at the door) by February 20.
Motion by Kay Bouska, second by Darlene Gavenda, approved by the membership:
The meal for band members will be served from 5 P.M. - 6:00 P.M.
Doors open 6:00 P.M.
Hors d'oeuvres served 6:30 - 7:30
Band's performance 7:30 - 9
Hors d'oeuvres will also be available during the band's break.
Motion by Vlasta Pitra, second by Christa Rabago, approved by the membership:

Once again a mention was made that ACHA needs to send out "special invitations" to the out of town "special guests" who consistently come to our gala. There is a list somewhere and we will need to find it for next year's event and keep it on file.
Jeannie Dubcak gave a big "thank you" to Janie Zbranek for all the advertising she did for the Czech Gala.

To our Vice President - Bernard Tupa - for being our Master of Ceromonies and putting together our program for the event. To our Treasurer - LaVerne Dancak - for her job in selling of tickets, taking care of the financial aspects of the event, printing of tickets, etc. To our Secretary - Janie Zbranek for all the advertising for the event and to all officers for any other support that needed attention such as seating arrangements, etc.

New Business:
President Alice Kubacak received an e-mail from Dr. Thomas Sovik, Professor, College of Music and Director, Central European Studies & Exchanges at University of North Texas in Denton, Tx.
A group of 9 performers (and 3 drivers) will be coming to Texas from the Czech Republic.
They are from a group called Stribrnanka and have recorded 31 CDs and DVDs over their many years of performing. They will be doing a "Tour of Texas" and asked if Austin (our ACHA group) would want to host them for a night of dance or sit-down concert whichever is best for us.
They will be dressed in kroj and the repertoire will be "the usual", along with some of those old Bohemian songs from the early 1900s that all of us can sing.
The Stribrnanka part of the show comes to us without cost and no "freewill offering" is expected; the tour is being funded using the interest from the CEFT-UNT endowment.
He said we could charge admission at the door, if we want, to cover any of our expenses or for our own fund-raising project.
All they ask is that we provide good food (not fast food) for 12 people who will be coming and also that we have a lot of people in attendance.
Some discussion went into this from having the event at the Onion Creek Country Club, to the Sons of Herman Hall on Decker Lane or just having it at Gethsemane Lutheran Church (where we have our monthly meetings).
James Van Bibber made a motion to invite the group, seconded by Pavla Van Bibber. Motion passed by members.
All suggestions were tabled for future considerations and discussions at a future meeting.
